Savvy Sitter Boston began with a conversation between two friends over a decade ago. Lauren had been babysitting across Boston for over 6 years and had become something of a local childcare matchmaker, connecting friends who were nannies or sat on the side with families who needed help. She and her friend Sarah realized the same thing every parent eventually figures out: finding a sitter you trust is hard, and no amount of scrolling through strangers makes it easier. So they built the alternative.

Today, Savvy Sitter Boston is a membership babysitting service for families across the Boston area, and every sitter on the roster is someone Lauren and Sarah know personally or who came recommended by someone they trust.
Our Story
Why did we start Savvy Sitter?
Finding reliable childcare can be overwhelming. Plenty of websites offer pages and pages of unfamiliar sitters, but scrolling through strangers doesn't actually make you feel more confident about who's watching your kids.
Lauren has already spent years connecting friends who babysat with local families who needed help, so starting Savvy Sitter just made that same trusted, word-of-mouth matching available to more families across the city.
Every sitter is a woman Lauren and Sarah know personally or who came highly recommended by someone they know. Many are mothers themselves. Others are teachers, nurses, and career nannies who have spent years working with children.
Who are our sitters?
Before joining, every sitter is interviewed and screened, and we require current first aid certification. They are people our founders would trust with their own families, which has been the only real standard here from the beginning.
We will do our best to accommodate last minute bookings.
We suggest booking with as much notice as possible to secure a sitter.
Weekends are booking weeks out.
